Please help laminate laid over carpet underlay

I paid a local guy to replace my carpet for laminate. He has laid it over the carpet underlay and told me to return the laminate underlay for a refund as carpet underlay is much better.
I am now left with an extremely spongy laminate floor.

Please can anyone let me know what I can do to fix this? or if I should just live with it?

I fear the laminate will flex too much and deteriorate.

I would ask the manufacturers technical department for comment and if they agree with me get him back to do the job properly (at his cost of course)
 
Carpet underlay is way too soft and spongy for laminate - i'm afraid it sounds like a lazy bodge job
