Plug in type extractor fan - is it easy to replace this?

When we got our flat the extractor fan was pretty much dead. Had a quote from an electrician this week to put a new one in. £40 + £40 to install.

Anyway, twice he didn't turn up with some excuse and wants to come next week again.

Anyway curiousity got hold of me and I thought I'd at least unscrew it and see what's inside the box it's mounted in.

Looks like the thing just plugs into a socket type connection!

Here's some photos, I'm hoping someone recognise the fan and knows what I could but that would simply plug in too. Google left me more confused unfortunately. Fan seems to be 4inch.

Pretty grimy photos coming up. Not advisable while eating :D

you might find a good hoover out is all the fan needs to make it work again if it is dead you will need a proper connecter block or wagos to wire the new one in depending if you know where each wire goes.

Well, to keep it simple, all the details you need are on last picture on the label

    Fan is made by Silavent

    Take a look online
Fairly sure you can just purchase the fan module and you keep the case as fitted

Old fan unplugs from wiring block and held in with 2/3 screws

New fan plugs in, then secured with screws - 2 minute job

Turn power off to fan before investigating / touching / removing / and please please please give the case a good hoover out

With old fan removed, shove the hoover back up the vent and hoover out where you can reach

I’ve replaced one the same/very similar where my mum lives. These fans are often used in flats where the ducting runs are very long

Shouldn’t be a problem if you stick with same make and model which I’m sure is available

    Get googling :)
