Plywood expansion gap - fill or not?

I’m installing 18mm plywood sheets to a summerhouse floor frame. It will be glued down to reduce squeaking and then screwed into place.

I have read that I need to leave a 2mm gap around each board to allow for expansion. To stop the gap causing draughts is it acceptable to fill the gap with caulk or flexible silicone? Or would defeat the object of the expansion gap?

Your board joins must be supported by your floor frame timbers. With the boards glued and screwed down, there should be no draughts. Why are you using ply, rather than t&g caberfloor or osb3, which are actually designed to be flooring?

Good point about that being screwed and glued to frame that it would stop draughts. I’m being a bit thick.

The ply is WBP. It won’t be used as the finished floor. It will with finished with laminate flooring.
