Hi everyone, hope you can help. I have some hardwood double glazed windows that I’ve just spent a couple of weeks revarnishing. I’ve found some scratches on the glass that I must have caused when sanding down. They look terrible. I’ve been trying Brasso to polish them out but it’s taking ages and the scaffolding is due to go back soon. I’m nervous about trying anything more abrasive for fear of making it worse. Any ideas? Thanks in anticipation.
You can get windscreen polishing kits etc online but unless it's a very superficial scratch then you're unlikely to remove it.
Brasso won’t cut it ( no pun intended). You need specific glass scratch removal like this one https://www.slimsdetailing.co.uk/products/3m-glass-polishing-compound I have not used it myself but glass is a very tough material and requires special material
Thanks you two. Haven’t got time for anything over the internet. Hadn’t thought about windscreens. Might try a visit to Halfords.
you'll need a mop ( electric polisher ). If the scratches run close to the glazing bars, and they usually do , you'll end up doing more damage to them that remove the scratches. ( former car sprayer, sometime decorator ).
