Porcelain tiles lifted/popped after only 5 months.

    Can’t comment on sub base but no, the mortar bed hasn’t ‘generally been done very well’

    Should be laid on a solid bed, not picture frames and as to the lack of an SBR Slurry Coat,,,, well, you know the rest

    As to a ten year guarentee, is it really worth the paper it’s written on ?

    Better to get the patio rectified now as it’s not been laid correctly and the builder knows this

    Latest update.. builder has deployed his best team to rectify - the whole patio is coming up. They have used the existing mortar bed which was rock solid and after filling in any holes they applied a Weber membrane and are using a Mappei high quality exterior adhesive with a slurry bond also on the back of the porcelain slabs. They are re- leveling with a slope as best as is possible… as it’s near as damn it flat. Grout wise they will also apply the proper exterior porcelain grout. So we did the best thing and they realized there was no option after all of the slabs just lifted with finger pressure.

    great outcome. builder deserves a work of thanks for admitting the issue and sorting it.
