Prefabs Again

They did not own it, they took it. It is time something is done about it, we have an elected head of state and all the land and property is put to use for the country, not some unelected hypocrite freeloader and his freeloading family. It costs over half a billion to keep them. Ireland's elected president is about 5 million.

Like I say, France had a revolution to get rid of the monarchy, we didn't, we continued the historical legacy.

So, you propose an act of parliament to dispossess nobles of their hereditary lands? at a time when we are only just getting them to pay tax on it? are you a Cromwellian?

You think what is happening in the US is great democracy?
ah yes the classic strawman argument.
The US being a “poor” example of democracy has nothing to do with the idea of a British Republic.

As an example of republics it is a perfectly relevant example, particularly in respect to democracy, what makes you think a British republic would be somehow more democratic?

What would it be called? 'The Peoples Republic of Great Britain' ? sounds like a fast route to the dissolving of the union.

Again you’re using a strawman argument, and not putting forward arguments of your own to support your point, colloquially you are the “I’m just asking questions guy.”
To ask you then, why is the dissolution of the Union necessarily undemocratic or a bad thing?

The only country who joined the the union democratically, was the union of Scotland and England. England took over Wales and Ireland by force.

'Democratically' is a bit of an exaggeration, it was a political coup between a very small number of dodgy dealers, as politics were in the 18c.

I have argued that England should have it's own parliament, it is a political oddity that Scotland, N Ireland and Wales have their own and England doesn't.
