    - Electric rewiring, the Price of 'ONE POINT (Socket/switch)'?  average Price range ?
<hr size="1" style="color: #ffffff; background-color: #ffffff;"/>Had a quote for wiring a flat. Out comes the ipad. ' how many socket in this room?', ' what lights and how many?'. Gives me a price on the spot. So he works out his price per point. Do you sparkies work out your price per point, and if so what do you charge, or what is the average price?

Seems reasonable Sine, and seems in line with LD's 1.5x which is logical.

On that type of pricing if the chap has say a 1 bedroom flat then he doesn't have to pay an  all in quote penalty. So the larger the property the more to be earn't, which would be in line with the customers monetary affluence.

Thanks Sinewave. Just to clariify a couple of things.. As I understand it each wall socket/outlet is regarded as a 'point'.
With the light circuits is a 'point' a pendant alone or a pendant including a switch. If multiple downlighters are fitted for one room, is each downlight regarded as a point and the switch itself a seperate 'point'. So in the case of 6 downlighters in one room, at £45 per point, 6 downlights and 2 switches would be £360 ??

Yes, a point is an individual point.

Some Sparx include a pendant and switch as one point rather than two as you'll always need a switch.

    However 6 downlights = 6 points.

    1 x Single socket outlet = 1 Point

    1 x Double socket outlet = 1 point

So the six downlights might include the switch aswell, depending on the sparx,.If ther are 2 switches for one room with 6 downlighters.3 downlights  on one switch and 3 downlights on another switch. on another. Sorry if I an sounding dim.

If it's a 2 gang switch in the same location then it's still a 6 or 7 point job.

If it's another separate switch on tother side of room then it's another point on top.

    Points make prizes!  ;)

So how much is it for a switch and drop Sine as a job total? and also how much would it be for a 2 way and drop? (two light switches plus one pendent)

Also 2 way plus 2 drops?

Also two way plus intermediate plus one drop?

And lastly two way plus intermediate with two drops?

People do it differently, but generally a switch, whether it is one, two or three gang is classed as one point.  Every light fitting or downlight is one point.

£45-£50 per point is pretty average, but you do make some further judgements when it comes to cooker circuit, shower circuit, immersion/cent heat etc.

We tend to price up with a meterials cost and anticipated labour, and maybe do a quick cross check to see if the per point costings are close.

You also get a feel for the price by seeing the site/customer.  Some sites/customers you can tell are going to be a PITA from the start!  You wack the price right up on these hoping to out price yourself, and then go and win the job anyway

Cheers Lec. So a 2 way + intermediate with two drops would equate to 5 points (3 switches plus two drops @ 1 point per item)

So this would be a total of say £250 just for that little part of a re-wire?

How many points is a Consumer Unit Lec?..take for example a DB with what 16 ways with two RCD,s and 10 mcb's?
