I think it depends on the kitchen size & whether it will work with your choosen layout.
It has pro & cons, corners are unused, so a corner sink makes sense as you can get long worktop runs if space allows.

Why do it?

Have an L-shape kitchen and now the sink takes up the entire small run. Currently, the corner is a dead space. Thinking to put it in a corner unit/sink to gain more space.

As shown in the pics above, corner sinks have their place and in certain situations are the only way to get a decent sized sink in a kitchen with very limited worktop space. They are quite often a complete pain to fit, but are the only logical solution in reality.
