Yep, he's so bloody proud of this country, he chooses to live in the US of A . Wonder how much tax he's paying in this country? (Ohh that'll be nothing then?)

Tell ya what David,,, start commenting on Trump in the NY Times or summat, instead of commenting on a country you choose not to reside in.

It almost appears as tho' you are suggesting that not only should these bludy 'grants not come to our shores, but us great british whities should stay at home and not go anywhere else... :rolleyes:

£:S and D Yep I can add up , multiply, subtract and divide those, but yes, decimal for the currency is a lot easier, so I'd keep the £'s and pence as they are. Anyway in the construction industry most sheet timber products (ply, chipboard and mdf) still come in Imperial.. Have you ever wondered why? ;)

Actually, what I'm wondering is - why does JJ keep winking at people?
I assume it's either a palsy or latent homosexuality.

Anyway, that aside.
I assume that sheet timber products are either sourced from the Canada, the US or countries that largely supply those markets.
Standardizing on imperial sizes makes sense when your major trading partner is the US, especially when other countries are quite capable of converting between the different systems.

Let's review imperial measurements

So the question becomes: Why does the USA still largely use the imperial system?

There are many social, historical, political and economic reasons for this, but I think most scholarly references have converged on the conclusion that it's because Americans are thick.
