Whats the best way to remove a typical LV recessed/down light or floor uplighter? Esp. the type with spring clips.

note: while attempting to change a D/L bulb the whole fitting began to move back into the ceiling joist bay. Am i missing something or was it just a case of a badly installed D/L?

not much choice other that get a screwdriver under the edge and pull it out with your fingers, if they are recessed into plasterboard the edge will quickly get trashed

    NN, thanks for the reply.
I've tried prising the rim away but the springs( behind the plaster board) seem to be keeping the fitting back.
The floor uplighters will not budge.

    Ummmm...

One could try removing the 'lighty upy thingy' (lamp) and get your fingers in the hole and see if you can ease the spring ..

Maybe even make up a hooky tool

yeah, and watch your fingers when they do come out, mouse trap comes to mind. I took mine down when painting the ceiling, wish I had left them up and painted round them
