    Replacing shower mixer unit.

The two feeds poking out of the wall contain the compression nut and flange bit from the old mixer. To remove these and fit the new stuff I need to remove the olives from the end of the pipes.

    Q. What is the easiest way to remove the olives from the copper work without damaging the pipes?

    Any advice greatly appreciated.

I'm no expert, but here is how I do it (rightly or wrongly).

Hacksaw a slot into the olive as if you were cutting it off, but don't go all the way through. Then use a flat ended screwdriver in the slot and twist. The olive should then come apart without damaging the pipe.

Use an olive cutting tool! in two sizes 15 and 22 mm, however if they are in copper u may be able to ease the nut and olive off together, try the same with brass may work otherwise cut into the olive carefully with a standard hacksaw blade and when deep enough cut, use flat bladed screwdriver, insert into cut mark and twist, should snap off quite easily

    Thanks for the responses, guys.

I'll give the hacksaw and screwdriver method a try.

    Thanks again.
