i thought the old flooring was coming up, and the new flooring is too thick to fit underneath the skirting? Thus you could use a biscuit jointer as a skirting board trimmer to shave a couple of mm of the bottom of the skirting?

don't know how thick the new floor is, q-step do 7,8 and 9.5mm.
How do you get the last plank in without major struggle.
How do you maintain expansion if you can't see.
Still think it's easier skirt off and back on.

You would meausure the expanson underneath the skirting and make sure you slide it in a few mm back from that?

The last plank would be a struggle - but perfection isnt easy!

Not only that, but you have to maintain the expansion gap at the start, not easy to do when it's under the skirting already and your are pushing the other boards into each other.

    Mr. Handyandy - really

I myself would only fit flooring under existing skirtings if skirting were period or difficult to replicate. Its possible to do but it dont half take a while and time is money

"You would meausure the expanson underneath the skirting and make sure you slide it in a few mm back from that?|"

if the wood is blind under the skirting how do you know how far in you are?
When you have a few rows in how can you be sure it hasn't moved forward a bit?
You could use cork but then getting all that in place costs more time.
The last board is the pig, i have done it a few times and it just isn't worth it, much easier to take off skirting and re-fit.
Like lamello says it's not a question of it you can do it but is it worth the extra time?

Ok 26+m2, it is packed in approx 1.5m2 so you will need 18packs, i can do it @ £17.5m2 or £26.25 pack = £472.50.
Underlay, do you want q-step branded or just a dpm combi?
Oh btw check your number, I think you mean oiled walnut plank but that is no. UL 1043.

That inc or plus vat audi?

    Yep inc. vat.
Basic rules for fitting, run planks longest way,
    run with light from widows,
    Oppose floorboards,
    Run across hearth,
sometimes you can't have them all.
I would normally try to run through lounge/diner in one, so longest way.
Usually there is a window at both ends and hearth at right angle to window so looks good.

That is a very good price to be retailing at audi. Thats not much more than I buy for on my account. I dont buy a lot so I am not on the greatest of terms. That is around £7 a metre cheaper than Floor2go etc.

Yep, i can't do "proper" trade for 20 or so boxes but i'm happy to get as close as i can for semi trade guys or just the decent lads on here.
To be honest there ain't much in it for me, little more than a handling charge.
But it's business i wouldn't have got and keeps my turnover up.
Also takes another few boxes off ft-go etc ;)

OK Audi so i will start in the dining room corner i have a kitchen door on that wall so makes sense to start there otherwise last row would be a nightmare ??

    straight through diner lounge .....

therefore planks will run along hearth ....

am i right in thinking thats correct mate ??

    cheers Chili

yep, looks better with a row running across the hearth rather than lots of narrow planks running into it.
