Hi, I'm planning to replace an existing radiator with a towel radiator. Will the towel rad fit directly onto the existing fittings? (images attached). Cheers, Al
You need to measure the distance between both pipe centres and try get a towel rail with pipe centres that match. 650mm or so id guess
Something like this is what you’re after. https://www.screwfix.com/p/chrome-straight-radiator-valve-15mm-x/20141 Along with a 650mm wide rad you should be good.
Are you sure you'll get enough heat out of the towel radiator to heat the bathroom? Normally towel radiators are good for heating towels ... but pretty poor at heating rooms.
You could get a pro in to do a decent job. It looks like the existing pipes could be easily modified. You could alter the pipes and use the below valves to go directly into the towel rail. https://www.screwfix.com/p/torino-chrome-angled-radiator-valve-lockshield-15mm-x-2-pcs/43354
You can find a radiator calculator here: https://www.bestheating.com/btu-calculator Random towel rail with quite a high heat output: https://d2f6oilijz0a9g.cloudfront.net/files/store/products/11973/technical-43100001980.pdf An electric element can also be installed so it warms up in the summer.
