    Hi,

I have a conventional boiler system (Hot water tank in airing cupboard and cold water tank in loft).
I currently have a programmer (Timer, override, boost 1 hour etc.) which controls both heating and hot water separately. I believe it is a S-Plan setup.

There is NO room thermostat! Im considering install Hive AH, as this would deal with the lack of thermostat and would also modernise my house a bit.

Ive taken off the current programmer and here is the setup (Present cables in bold):
    1 - Earth
    2 - Neutral
    3 - Live

4 - Hot Water Off (Missing)
5 - Central Heating Off (Missing)

6 - Hot Water On (Present)
7 - Central Heating on (Present)

Just wondering, when I install Hive, do I connect the cables in the exact same way? I.E. ignoring the HW and CH off cables? Is it as simple as a like for like swap?

    Thanks in advance!

Yes it’s just a simple swap.

If you look closely your old programmer is numbered.
These numbers will match up with hive.

Ok thanks for your help. I just saw this in the install guide (i'm assuming mine is dual channel) and was not sure if all pins needed connecting, as existing only has pins N,L,3,4 connected.
Im assuming this would solve my lack of thermostat issue as it would be just telling the valves/boiler to open/start close/stop?

    Only LN 3&4 need connecting.
This will solve your thermostat issues.
To be honest not having a thermostat makes this task a lot easier.
