    It really isn’t.

    Look at this sentence:
    Hammer’s inability to understand apostrophes can’t be explained.

    The first apostrophe means the inability belongs to you. It’s a possessive.
    The second is a contraction.

    New rule: The debate of "England for the English" is suspended until we resolve whether "English is for the English". Perhaps JJ's* posts will contain: These Brits, born over here, can't even be bothered to learn the language.

    Seriously though Hammer. The English language is rich and complex. There's no shame in making mistakes when trying to use such a complex tool, and we all make grammatical mistakes.
    However, if you're going to criticise someone's* grammar then you should be fairly certain that you're right first. You might also be taken more seriously if you learnt to admit when you're wrong.

    * This apostrophe is correct.

    JJ - you might to check the soundness of a bandwagon before you jump on it.

    I don't know what Allsorts/DA/next unbanned profile said.:)
    (cos he is on my banned, ignored, disinterested, persona non grata and mucophagy lists)
    But from previous form, empirical data, logic and his psycho profile..I would bet he is wrong, as usual;
    But has wrapped it all up in numerous lines of verbiage, misdirection, Ad Hominems.
    No doubt, he will reply to my post due to his Athazagoraphobia. (no cure) whilst taking no account of what I just noted....on the second line).
    Ex teacher explains a LOT:rolleyes:

    I was just thinking, now we've got a handle on the very basics of literacy and grammer, it was perhaps time to move on to more complex concepts like 'rony and sarcesm.

    Yea, :)
    but you will be looking in the dictionary....and then using this stuff down the pub.
    And even better is the fact that da.etc will be clenching his fists and stamping 'cos I am not interested in anything he has to say.
    It's called schadenfreude. Try to think of me as the sheriff and DA as mongo.

    ;)

    And isn't that a grown up way of ending an argument?
    La la la I can't hear

    So on the grown up debate front Hammer refuses to admit he's wrong.
    RS doesn't know who's wrong because he won't listen to anybody who disagrees with him but is sure it's DA anyway.
    JJ doesn't know his Arris from his elbow.
    Longs denys the past ever happened.
    Well done all of you. :):):)

    Ok, folks - at looooooongsie last, a very important post by RS.

    'Fess up - which YouTube videos appeared on your screen after that li'l clip of 'Saddles ended?

    For me it was CCR - 'I heard it through the grapevine' (fab) and the very best of the Doors.

    (I've just rediscovered Credence - man, they have the sound going.)

    Come on - 'fess.

    Hmmm, this is getting rather repetitive, chip's. Do you have to be told yet again?
    People are going to think you're telling porkies if you continue with these wild accusations, you do know that?
    Give me a hint. What do you think I've said...?
    Even if you 'can't' back it up with any meaningful evidence, my memory is quite good regarding the things I've posted on here so howay, give us a clue.
