So what have you done this time numpty? One second you were there next you were gone, quicker than a falling robot
I am still unsure why I got suspended. They wasnt happy that I came home rather than hang around, but I told them I was in shock and I hopped it before anyone could blame me for the accident.
It's standard practice to suspend all involved until the investigation is completed. None of you will be allowed on site unaccompanied during that time.
It depends. Health & Safety is everyones responsibility. If you are just a programmer, then fair enough. If you were the most senior person there, then I would expect you to give it a quick check to make sure nothing is obviously wrong. I would expect a quick check to be the first line of the commissioning / testing procedure.
I have spoke with the other lads who got suspended with me on the phone tonight, we have all agreed to tell the truth and not lie because this was something that we shouldnt be blamed for as there is no permit system in place for moves or installs. We all believe this is the H&S and management failure.
Agreed, but I was not advised to do this as there are hundreds of bolts on the robots all of equal importance. I am not there to check the fitters work that is for the senior fitter to do surely?
Plus to add to my previous comment to you. My main responsibility is from a software aspect. I take full responsibility for the program and the safety aspect of the robot which includes guarding and the safety of the robot from a user point of view. If the program screwed up because of my programming and someone got injured through this, then yes my responsibility. The installation is not my concern up until now.
Bit of a stigma attached to speaking to him now. Its rather uncomfortable its like hanging out with a wildchild or someone your parents would not approve.
