Hi I am hoping to put the roof on my workshop this weekend. any one able to tell me the spacing between roof joists. Many thanks
6mm may be nothing to you but if there are 1000 rafters each side you'd be 6 metres short one end. That's a big gap to conceal with mastic
It depends if you are putting on sheeting material or not. Some comes metric i.e. 2400mm units so use 400mm Some comes imperial ie 8 ft or 2440mm so use 16in. M2C1
take your measuring tape it may or may not have diamonds or triangles at 18" and or 400mm centres for this purpose[marking out for sheet material] big all
Jim No problems. But for some it is not a joke. http://www.screwfix.com/talk/thread.jspa?forumID=22&threadID=22715&messageID=221835#221835 For a shed, I would put the two end ones up first and then put the others in with equal spacing and not worry if the spacing is 10 or 20mm more or less than 400mm. with the way my local mill cuts the flipping wood, a 50mm timber can be anything from 46 to 53mm, so 6mm either way isn't soemthing I'd worry too much about. Anyway mark them at 403 mm and you're between the two;-) woody
UKWOODY If you put your joists at 400mm or 16" centres it does not mater what thickness your timber is.
