Hi, I am selling a 1960’s house, the surveyor has stated it is not strapped down and needs to be remedied. Assuming this was constructed to regs at the time? Can they force retro fit? Thanks

Absolutely no. The surveyor is acting for the buyer??? If so they are just fault finding to try to knock the price down.

I suggest you respond by saying that the building was built in the 1960a and met the required standards of the time. There has been no issue with the roof over the last 60 years(I presume this is the case?). If the buyer wants a building constructed to current standards then they should look at new builds abs not 1960s properties.

if you get any further push back on this position then re market the property.
