Running a Vitodens 100 W boiler on Portable generator.

This past summer ( 2023 ) I had a new viessmann walmount propane boiler installed. I live in the northeast an I lose power occasionally during the winter months. My concern is I have a non-inverter generator. Will this new boiler run correctly with a standard portable generator. Everything else in the house runs fine with my Generac generator. I am just not sure if this new boiler is going to have issues because the sin wave may not be pure. Should I have any concerns or should it run correctly on my generator? Any input would be helpful, just don’t want to damage anything. My house desk computers run fine on my generator as well.

Will run fine on a pure signwave type generator (like the orange ones sold by screwfix) but won't work on a building site type generator.

It depends on the power supply on the boiler control board. Looking at the date, you boiler will most likely have a switching power supply on board. These are very sensitive to non sine wave supplies, they may be damaged requiring a new boiler control board. If in doubt you should use a 1 to 1 (230 to 230 volt) transformer in the supply to the boiler. The transformer will re shape the supply waveform and it will always output a sine wave, protecting the boiler power supply circuits.
