Im building raised brick beds and done the footings. There is about 160 bricks for the two raised beds. How many single bqgs of builders sand and cement do i require.. Thanks people
I would guess at about 5 bags sand and 1.5 cement ... it will depend on how good you are and whether you fill joint fully! And also whether it is 1 brick high and 160 long, or 10 high 16 long ... Don't forget some plasticiser.
Marginally out with my guess: https://source4me.co.uk/calculate_brick_mortar.htm suggests about 6 and just over 1.5 at between 1:3 and 1:4 whereas others give different: http://s504803493.websitehome.co.uk/intranet/pdfs/DIYBuildingMaterial.pdf page 2 A 25kg bag of cement mixed with five 25kg bags of building sand will make enough mortar for around 140 bricks or 35 concrete blocks. With a 1:5 or 1:6 ratio
