Screwfix and the Troll

I brought the issue of Trolls up back in May on the Select forum. I think this was about the time Natalie came on board and she was all over the Troll and did a great job.

It did stop for a while, but as we can all s ee, he's back.

That was why I used the select forum, so he wouldn't have been able to view it.

Nor me, Bazza. I'm not yet one of the hallowed elite. Mind you - only a few months in and 63 trophy points already, so stand by with the sawdust-coated red carpet, mate.

Hopefully you will be promoted soon, from what I have seen of your posts you should be with us.

Can't open it as I am no longer 'Select' possibly coz I didn't post any porn and simply wrote the cynical truth which led to a ban for 4 months. :(...So I am being careful these days as with the right thread I can still help out which will benefit other people. :)

You were select at the time and Peter did respond. The thread ran to 5 pages.

What about writing to head office and complaining? Would that be a way forward?
I did. I wrote to the CEO through the complaints section of the main website. The response surprised me actually. SFA! This was the last time that porn was left on the site for over 24hrs and I did expect some form of acknowledgement but I'm afraid not. Very poor. Market leader in this business with the most amateur forum in existence.

Screwfix could always discontinue the Forum if they wished to do so as that would probably save them money.

Synchronise watches, the Trolling hour approaches.

See who spots him first lol.

The next step is to report Screwfix and the Troll to the Internet Watch.

It is bizarre that Screwfix IT isn't addressing this. It is not complicated.

All Internet activity is retained by the Internet Service Providers, meaning there is a record of the Trolls IP address back to their home address. Given the posts are timed, it is child's play for the Police and other authorised bodies to request the data when investigating a crime. Dear Troll - it might be worth finding another hobby.

You don't spend enough I'm afraid.

And how do you suggest they find teh IP when it uses a VPN? The VPN hides the posters original IP and uses one of a large block ... The only way would be to block a complete range which is impractical as it may well block legitimate users too.

I don't actually see what the fuss about a pornographic picture is about, it's not as if (I assume) everyone on here hasn't seen or done what was shown, the same furore wasn't created when there were photos the troll put up of scantily clad women in various positions, presumably as they were attractive rather than blatantly obscene, even though it's supposedly unsuitable for a 'family forum'. I find it far more offensive that members have been targeted and stalked offline in the real world than a stream of tripe filled posts on here, if the moderators at screwfix need a boot up the bumhole it should be over that as they've allowed this nonsense to go on for a few years now, not a picture that you could access by changing the website name in your search engine.
