    1. NO PURCHASE NECESSARY. Entry and participation is free.

    2. The Promoter is Screwfix Direct Limited (company number 3006378) of Trade House Mead Avenue Yeovil BA22 8RT

    3. The prize (“Prize”) will be a trade bundle worth approximately £20,000 or equivalent in Euros (dependent on the exchange rate at the time of the winner being selected), consisting of: £5000 to spend on technology (laptops, desktops and tablets from a Screwfix approved supplier), £10,000 worth of credit to spend at Screwfix, and an allowance of up to £5000 to spend on career enhancing courses/workshops e.g. website design, social media, business accounts and finance, specialist trade courses etc from a Screwfix approved provider. Screwfix will reimburse the Screwfix approved supplier/provider directly. Screwfix reserves the right to consider and review any proposed supplier/provider and Screwfix has the right to refuse any proposed supplier/provider.

    4. The competition (“Competition”) is open to all tradespersons resident in the UK or Republic of Ireland aged 18 years old and over, except for employees of the Promotor or Screwfix Direct (Ireland) Limited, their immediate families and anyone else connected professionally with the Competition. Only one entry will be accepted per person and per household.

    5. Entry into the Competition will close at 23:59 (BST) on Sunday 31st July 2022 (the “Closing Date”).

    6. The Competition can be entered by completing and submitting the online entry form available at www.screwfix.com/stt or www.screwfix.ie/stt.

    7. As part of the selection process, the Promoter and an independent judge (together the “Judge”) and the Promotors third party agent managing the Competition (McCann PR and Legacy PR) will request that the Judge be put in contact with customers of the entrant, in order to obtain feedback about the entrant and their work. Prior to providing details of any customers, the entrant must ensure that those customers have consented to being contacted by the Judge and/or the managing agent.

    8. Entries will be judged by the Judge, which may include telephone and video interviews and any feedback obtained from the entrants customers, with the best entries (in the Judge’s sole discretion) being shortlisted. The criteria used to judge entries will be marked on a scale of one to ten and will be based on the following aspects:
    a. how entrants adapt to change including whether entrants:
    i. keep up with regulations and CPD;
    ii. adapt to changing customer tastes, needs and demands to improve their business; and
    iii. embrace new technology and ways of working.
    b. entrant’s dedication to professionalism including:
    i. how entrants demonstrate passion for their craft;
    ii. whether entrants ensure excellent customer service;
    iii. the qualifications held by an entrant; and
    iv. whether an entrant holds membership of trade bodies and accreditations.
    c. how entrants go beyond the call of duty which might include:
    i. any particular ‘Hero’ stories;
    ii. how entrants may have a positive impact on their local community;
    iii. how entrants may have overcome adversity; and
    iv. can the entrant demonstrate how they have invested or are investing in the future of the trade.
    Details for the next stage will be provided to all shortlisted semi-finalists. It is essential that semi-finalists are available for telephone/video interviews, where required by the Judge during the shortlisting process and available to virtually attend the finals event (the “Final”). The Judge reserves the right to disqualify any semi-finalist who is not available during the selection process, not available to virtually attend the Final, or who cannot be contacted within a week of contact being initiated by the Promotor.

    9. The Final will be held during the Screwfix Live 2022 event, between 23rd and 25th September 2022 where the Judge will conduct a final interview with the finalists before selecting and announcing the winner (“Competition Winner”). Specific details of date and time will be disclosed to the semi-finalists in advance of the event.

    10. The Prize will be awarded to the finalist that the Judge consider to be most worthy of the title ‘Screwfix Top Tradesperson’ based on all the information gathered on the entrants during the selection process and the criteria outlined above.

    11. The Prize will be sent to the winner within 6 weeks following the final. The £10k/Euro equivalent of Screwfix credit must be used within 12 months from date of receipt, and any outstanding amount not used after this time will be cancelled.

    12. The decision of the Judge will be final and unchallengeable, and, in their absolute discretion, they may declare void any entry or the Competition itself should they consider that there are no entries reaching their required standard. At the Judge’s sole discretion, they can award prizes or not, as they see fit. The Judge may also decide, in their absolute discretion, to change the rules of the Competition while it is running, if it appears to them that it would be equitable or desirable to do so. No correspondence will be entered into. The Judge may also decide, in their absolute discretion, to disqualify any entrant for any reason at any point in the Competition.

    13. The Prize is personal and non-transferable unless otherwise agreed in writing by the Promoter. No cash alternative or other prize alternatives are available except that in the event of unforeseen circumstances out of its control, the Promoter reserves the right to offer an alternative prize of equal or greater value.

    14. Entries made after the Closing Date, lost, received damaged or delayed will be disqualified. The Promotor accepts no responsibility for disqualified entries, interrupted or unavailable network service or other connections. Any participant who enters or attempts to enter the Competition in a manner, which in the Promotors view is contrary to these Terms and Conditions or by its nature is fraudulent or unjust to other entrants (including without limitation tampering with the operation of the Competition, cheating, hacking, deception or any other unfair playing practices such as intending to annoy, threaten or harass any other entrants or Screwfix and/or any of its agents or representatives, or to be acting in any manner deemed by the Promotor to be disruptive or in violation of the Terms and Conditions, or who submits an illegible or offensive entry), may be rejected from the Competition at the Promotors sole discretion. No automated, third party or bulk entries are permitted and will result in disqualification.

    15. By submitting an entry, it will be assumed by the Promoter that all information submitted is true, accurate, current and complete. The Promoter reserves the right to check the validity of any entry.

    16. The Promoter, with the finalists and winners’ consent, may require the Competition Winner and finalists to participate in publicity events in relation to the Competition up to 12 months following the award of the Prize. In particular, the Promoter may publish the Competition Winner’s first name and hometown/County, photographs and footage of the Competition Winner with their Prize in future editions of its publications and websites (including social media) and may require the Competition Winner to take part in any advertising campaigns and/or press interviews to promote the Competition for the following year. By participating in the Competition, each entrant agrees to grant the Promoter and its affiliates a perpetual, royalty-free, exclusive, worldwide licence to publish and broadcast and otherwise use the material in any media including the unlimited right to sub-licence. Each entrant further confirms that the publishing or broadcast of such material will not breach any third party’s intellectual property or associated rights and that any necessary permissions have been obtained. The Competition Winner may use the Promoter’s name and logo only with the Promoter’s prior written consent.

    17. To the full extent permissible by law, neither the Promoter nor its parent company, affiliates, directors, officers, employers or agents shall be liable to any entrant for any claim in respect of any losses (including without limitation special, indirect or consequential losses), expense, injury, or damages of any kind whatsoever arising from or connected to the Competition.

    18. The Promoter reserves the right to withdraw the Competition at any time if circumstances make this necessary.

    19. The decision of the Promoter is final and binding in all matters relating to this Competition. The Promoter will not enter into any correspondence in relation to the Competition.

    20. This Competition is governed by the law of England and the courts of England will have exclusive jurisdiction in relation to any dispute arising from the entry or interpretation of these terms and conditions.

    21. By entering the Competition, all entrants understand that the personal data which they provide in the application form shall be processed by the Promotor in order to run the Competition. Such personal data shall be processed in accordance with the Screwfix Privacy Policy available at www.screwfix.com/privacypolicy. With the entrants consent (which can be withdrawn at any time by contacting the Promotor), the Promotor may contact entrants with details of future Screwfix Top Tradesperson activities, and for market research purposes in connection with trade related topics.

    22. Entrants will be deemed to have read, understood and accepted these terms and conditions upon entering the Competition.
