I wish to seal and waterproof some MDF shelving for an industrial use.The MDF was not my choice but thats a done decision so I am stuck with it.I know there are MDF primers but I believe they are all white and I wish to use a clear finish, preferably one coat,so what would anybody suggest for a waterproof and durble finish?

Screwfix do an MDF primer that seems to do the job quite well in my experience. The reference is page 49, Code 36549 in their current catalogue.

I've used Rustins Clear MDF sealer ( Sfx - 36549) followed by Chestnut Acrylic lacquer. Gives a tough finish and the primer darkens the MDF to a pleasant shade.
