Has anyone ever has a fault with either their "supply head" cut-out, or service cable, which has led to one or more of their neighbours supply being disrupted?

My electricity supplier's engineer states service cables never break down, but I don't believe him at all.....

they dont unless you do something 2 them/ ground movement(which causes water ingress)

if they were left perfectly still under designed load conditions

sane as if you left vir alone it would

Our neighbours across the road had a service cable failure when some builders relocated one of their supply cables about 2m in the air with a jcb . . . they then stuck a screwdriver into the ripped open end to see if it was live !! and it was raining!

Oh and in the same day they also jcb-converted the gas and mains water feeds, and sewer vent pipe! They missed the sewer completely (by a mere .1m), however they missed out on the telephone cable on their first day; it took them about 3 weeks to find it.

    Reconnection cost way over 2grand!

They were still trying after 3 weeks???

your supply engineer is right in what he says, cables only break down when there is a " y " in the day,i believe service cables break down quite regularlry
and because they are usually looped then this could quite easily effect your neighbours.

"appologies" sothernspark please substitute "some are looped" for "usually looped", most are balanced over the
three phases or cores as you correctley say, knocking out 1 in 3 houses.
( i will never again drink tennents super!!!!!!!!!!)
