How long should I be expecting this stuff to take to set...

Just had a tile pull clean off a primed plywood panel after 18 hours (1mm adhesive)

The adhesive isn’t suitable for plywood.

    Really? Even when primed?

What size and material are the tiles?

    Ceramic. 500x250x9

Most of them are stuck fine as far as I can tell

Yeah, tiles are too big for tubbed adhesive really, maximum is usually 300mm x 300mm.
Tubbed adhesives dry by dispersion so I would leave it a week or so to allow the adhesive plenty of drying time before grouting, drilling into etc.

I did wonder about air drying being a problem, but I'm a rubbish tiler so didn't want to use powder!

I'll just leave it ages as you suggest... Got a dehumidifier running so hopefully that will help

A standard setting powdered adhesive will give you around 4-5 hours working time and you could always mix up half a bag at a time if it’s slow going/loads of cuts.

Wow, that's a lot longer than I expected!

I was thinking more like half an hour working time, I'll definitely go with powdered in future.
