Does anyone in the UK do it anymore? In many parts of the world (either the less affluent ones or the more environmentally conscious ones) you can send off your TCT circular saw blades to be sharpened ... usually up to about 5 times depending on how much they had to take off each time to get a nice clean sharp face. If anyone does it, please send pointers here.
I should imagine most joinery shops still have their blades sharpened, I know I still do, just hunt google for blade sharpening, you will probably find a fairly local one that collects and delivers, the one I use does my area once a week, collect one week return the next when they pick up the next lot. If you have a good tool shop near you they will probably have a firm that collects once a week. I use spindex tools in Havant if you are near the south coast. Just checked, there is Thames valley saw services in Oxon, looks like they will be the kiddies near you.
Don’t know where you are but in Northampton I get mine done through MTS power tools, drop them in, saw doctor collects and drops off once a week, about a tenner for a 48 tooth blade, from memory.
There’s a mobile guy round our way; does power tools, scissors, kitchen knives and garden tools. May be someone like that near you.
He has a big orange sign on a hi roof transit!!! I would Google “mobile tool sharpening” and see if there’s anything nearby.
Don’t think a mobile sharpening service will be able to do saw blades , they some times need re-setting , new teeth & also it’s a specialised marchine for saw blades not just a grind stone they use for knifes & scissors.
I use Tooltec in High Wycombe. Most specialist tool supply shops also provide a service - usually they have a specialist calling in once a week, collect, resharpen and return a week later.
