Should I paint this bit on a wooden window?

    Hi,

I'm trying to work out weather I should be painting over this bit or not? I think it's the putty that's sealing the glass bit? Should I masking tape over that but and just paint the wooden frames or paint these bits as well? Also what works best for getting rid of a bit of mould?

I can't see the photo as I've got a bad connection but as long as it's not new putty you paint over it and just onto the glass.
    For mould use dilute bleach.

Looks like a silicon bead.....................silicon and paint do not adhere at all well! :(

It looks different to what's on all the other windows maybe it's been damaged and replaced at some point. Would silicon bead feel sticky?

Might be silicone which is not paintable or glazing mastic which is. Silicone is normally fairly glossy mastic less so but with old stuff hard to say just paint a brushful on and see what happens if it is silicone it will be like trying to paint teflon!;)

I'll give it a try and see what happens, thanks for the info.

You can see it's silicon by the way the existing paint has peeled away.

I can see clearer now but still can't quite work out what's going on.
If that's silicon then it shouldn't be near d/g as it could affect the seal.
