I have a shower trap that doesn't seem to have any way of getting much leverege to screw the top section of the trap that sits above the tray to the bottom section below the trap has anyone come across this before?

Yes. Use your initiative....stuff a rag in it and turn....there's always a way....

The one I have is the 'High flow shower waste chrome: product number 28463'' in the screwfix website.

If theres no other way of doing it do you mean stuff a rag in the inner section that screws down trough the tray and screw it in that way?

If you will buy cheap stuff...... often those wastes can be tightened by either reversing the trap insert or using the chrome trim....if not a rag will do it....better to buy decent branded wastes that come with fitting keys
