Sink waste not fitting

Hi,

I am trying to connect our bathroom sink to the existing bottle trap but can't seem to get a connector that fits.

I purchased a 40mm to 32mm reducer as the thread attached under the sink measures 40mm and the pipe that comes up out of the bottle trap measures 30mm internally (34.4mm including the walls of the pipe) and 32mm was the closest I could see.

Neither end connects though, the 40mm thats meant to connect to the sink is too big to thread on by a few mm, and the 32mm is a couple of mm too big to connect to the bottle trap pipe.

I've measured the sink thread with callipers, so not sure why this wouldn't fit? I also can't see anything for 30mm pipe (or should it be 34.4mm to include walls of the pipe?

Thanks

Bathrooms usually have basins ,and kitchens have sinks.
A basin trap should be 32mm (1¹/4 inch) and should screw directly onto the basin waste fitting, the other ends compression fitting will accommodate the waste pipe.

Thanks, I managed to get basin trap and it now fits to the basin waste fitting. Unfortunately the other end still doesn't fit. The product says it's 32mm in size, so my pipe is a few mm too big :/ not sure what to do now.

What make is the trap ?
Can you show us a pic of the waste pipework, not just the end of it,include any joints on it.
There are two types of plastic waste pipe ,both generally described as 32mm, however the solvent weld type is larger outside diameter than the push fit type. Both should fit into a basin traps outlet though.
