I'd like to know if tile backer board can be skimmed, I am renovating my bathroom and will be doing a walk in shower/wet room style that is fully tiled and will be using the concrete based tile backer board. My question is for the rest of the bathroom area outside of the shower area, I will be doing a half tile/half painted bathroom. I thought it would just make sense to use the tile backer board for the entire bathroom, assuming it can be skimmed, and thus is my question, can it be skimmed or do I need to go with moisture resistant plasterboard instead for the rest of the bathroom?

I have but needs to be sealed.
Think I use gardz or beeline sealer (I carry both) and allowed to dry. Pva and skimmed.
I know some have used blue grit or similar for a good surface.
Some tile backer boards state that it can be skimmed which is useful, but others need a good sealer first.
