I have just finished a small loft conversion and given the usual certificate from my spark to the bco.The guy is saying he needs a british standard certificate for the smoke alarm design. I have never come across this before and my sparky has,nt either.Does anyone know where I can get this certificate for the very complicated one smoke alarm on each landing set up. Is there no end to the red tape that the authorities keep coming up with to give them something to do. Many thanks in advance if anyone can help.
It is a load of tosh isn't it! but had your spark been up to speed he would have known that a cert for even domestic smoke detectors is a requirement just as much as a EIC is.
Do you need certificates for domestic battery smoke alarms?..you know the twin pack Argos specials and the like.
Do you need certificates for domestic battery smoke alarms?..you know the twin pack Argos specials and the like. Mains/battery back up, JP..
then you are going to have to measure the sound level at the bedhead dBA ,,you know , so I wonder if the spark has a sound meter ? probably not as he is unaware of stuff You have to larrfff or you'd cry
Oh right cheers Ext..see what you mean M8. evening JP.... Still miss your afternoon slots..... But yes I know nobody posts during the day anymore, hardly..
Evening Ext..still doing my kitchen M8 amongst other things.. Must admit the forum is different now..I dunno. Hey it doesn't matter..still excellent advice given from you and all the sparkys on t'forum to people like me and others..
I make my own up for smoke alarms, nic has never complained about it. As for sound levels, I believe a sound check is not required if the distances etc comply with the manufactures info regarding spacing etc.
There is one here you can look at/use yorkshireboy http://elecsa.co.uk/common/downloads/downloads.aspx
