Have a nice break, tetleyman, and I mean that in every sense of the word (Anyways, you'll be gagging to come back to civilization after 3 days...)
thanks for that DEVS your not as bad as i thought and before you lads start i am not quere or bent in any way so lets NOT have any witty remarks, just a ordinary lancashire lad who likes a good pint and a brew of tea both tetleys and a pack of cigs and good plain jackbit
A friend of mine runs a pub. He has spent a fortune on an outside setup for his customers. The pub is now empty and the outside full, smokers and non smokers alike. Business as not been damaged but he is worried what will happen in the colder evenings when people may choose to stay at home. Funny thing is, the customer who moaned the most about smoking before the ban is now outside and moaning to get the heating lights turned on. It is these people that are intolerant and selfish, not the smokers.
tetlyman asked me to keep this thread alive whist he is on holiday in spain smoking in bars, so, well hello everybody, and ho yea,,he told me to tell devs to+++++++++ off, but i'm not going to, don't tell him when he come home please.
the risks from passive smoking are insignificant and the figures given are misreprisented. The pubs who are providing outside areas for smokers are finding EVERYONE going outside, the bar areas are empty and who is sitting outside, yep smokers and non smokers. Now the pubs don't smell of smoke nope they now smell of dirty toilets, sweat and farts!

Hi audi. At the risk of peddling the same line again and again, I accept that the risk from passive smoking is probably minimal, but this was never a significant reason for me being anti-smoking in public places. It's mostly the smell in the pub and - even worse - after you get home. Also the other effects it has when the pub is particularly smoky - stinging eyes, and a dry throat the day after. It ain't good. Yes, probably lots of people are going outside at the moment, smokers and non-smokers. But that's whilst the weather is kind - just wait until winter. Then a non-smoker like myself can sit back in my warm comfy seat, sup a nice malty pint, and try my dampest to suppress* a smug grin as all the addicted f*kwits pull on their coats and trudge outside in the cold and rain for an 'enjoyable' Cig. * but fail, of course.
