Socket and hob

I would do it about 30cm onwards from the hob & about 6" up you don't want trailing leads near the hob.

There are no specific regs that I am aware of .. but sense prevails.. I agree that 300mm is a good distance to the side .. and has been an industry standard for many years now.. there are always exceptions to the rule tho .
