Want to treat yourself to a early Christmas prezzy, a wet stone sharpener like the Scheppach Tiger 2000, got the Tiger 2500 myself, brilliant tool puts a wonderful edge on plane irons, chisels, knives, etc.

Back to Souber video, not sure, could be an earlier version.

Anyone know if the bits for the souber are sharpenable? The 19mm bit is a bit blunt now. Managed to do about 14 doors with the jig and half those were deep locks.

If not then I will end up buying a new bit.

There are firms who can sharpen them.

Pretty sure Robin can sharpen them, as he says if it has a edge it can be sharpened.

Have used them for my saw blades, etc over the years, excellent service.

I did send an e-mail to Sober and received a quick reply saying that they don't offer a sharpening service, but some bits can be sharpened by a professional.

Most people tend to discard after use.

Going to send them an e-mail to see cost.

At £15.50 per bit going to see whether it will be worth it.

    Wasteful.

Use have a company years ago,who use to dump perfectly good blunt drill bits, mill bits, etc, was cheaper to buy new than resharpen them:(, was a good source of free bits for some years.:)

Have just chatted online to them and they didn't hear of the bit, sent them a link of one and they say its a bit too specialist for us.

Purchased the set with 3 bits; 19, 22 and 25mm cutters.

Think I have only used the 19mm so far, had to buy a 16.2mm one as the lock was slim and face was thin so 19mmm wouldn't work.

They've replied also and said they don't offer this service.

Think it's best to order a new bit.

    Shame,
I bought myself full set directly

I believe something like £60 for 4 of the carbide tipped ones, as there are plenty of cheaper ones on eBay "for alluminium" in HSS

Iv;e looked at the aluminum cutters, they have the prefix NAB, and look like they are suitable for aluminum doors only.

The cutters I have the prefix CWB.

After only 19 doors hone with a diamond card to get the edge back.then every few doors keep honing.( Bit like router cutters)

Going to give this a try.

What grade/grit is the stone? I do happen to have a fine diamond card.

Fine or medium is ok. Just flatten the face. Little and often is the key. With a little water.

I got loads of grades, chisels (when have enough time) get up to 1000 grade, but mostly 600
All carbide cutters are up to 600, mainly 400, for the perpetrator (cutter), if I would, that'd be 300 one,
    I thinks ;)
