Hi
ive got the BT Home Hub ,last night I noticed water dripping off the computer table ,I thought the kids had spilt a drink on it .

No leaks from ceiling

I asked them all .no no no (3 Kids)

I lifted the hub and found a pool of water on table and the hub was dripping ??????

Ive a ethernet cable going upstairs to X Box

Can water travel inside this ,either up or down ??

if there is a spilt in cable ???

This has happened twice now ,once before xmas

Should I call bt in or an exorcist ??

Kids are crapping themselves

I do not know the set up for that system so I am probably going to be wrong!.

Have you had a new phoneline fitted to the unit, if so the cable may have been installed in such a way that allows rain water to run along it and into the house. Where a cable goes through it should run upwards and then through the hole. If the cable runs downwards or horizontal prior to entering the hole it will be more prone to allow rain ingress. Also seal the hole with silicon sealent to help the problem.

Father in law had the same thing with his tv aereil last week, puddles of water under tv, comming down inside coax cable from a bad connection.
I thought he was mental when he rang to tell me (either that or he had been watching titanic)
Went and had a look, sure enough water comming down the cable, i disconected it and gave it a shake, easy half a cup of water.
Got the tv guy out to change it all and yep it happens all the time.

BT? its probably steam powered! ^:O

..actually their home hub works well, I have to say I am pleased with mine - although mine runs on electrickery, not water:)

my bt broadband at work is terrible!
600k instead of however many mb i'm paying for!!!

Just swapped routers ,the hub was full ,soaking wet !!

The only external cable is the ethernet cable going to kids room ,under patio then vertical to bed window ??

the router is sat about 4 foot on desk shelf .can the water travel up cable ??

capillary action ??
