Stainless Kitchen Sink Eathing

    Hi, just fitted new kitchen with a st/steel kitchen sink, this has an earthing tag, previous sink was plastic, do I need to run an earth to this if so can I pick it up from the kitchen ring circuit?

    Hi Rudolph..there is no requisite to run an earth to tag on t'sink M8..:)

    the reason being that that would be supplimentary bonding which isnt required as a kitchen doesnt count as a special location.

    until you put the double insulated kettle on it with the damaged lead, plastic pipes, wet hands??????????

    i still think hey should be bonded

    It was common practice for electricians to bond sinks to the nearest socket earth

    Dom, no, Com yes! ;-)
    Comercial kitchens are often bonded but this is not necessarily required ,it depends.
