    Hi,

I'm removing some walls in my house and wanted to push the cupboard door frame beneath my staircase back but on removing the plasterboard I'm concerned that the stringer for the staircase (which is a single winder) is supported by the door frame timbers. I've attached a photo to help explain. The stringer is not attached to the trimmer sat just behind it but it is attached to the stringer running along the wall and I assume onto the timbers at the top of the staircase. If this is the case, is it really necessary to have the extra support here anyway?

    Thanks.

The door frame won't be structural to the stairs, that's a fairly new build. I can see fixings in the second pic through the string into the wall, you could screw the return string into the trimmer to give you peace of mind if you wanted.
