I bought some step lights, when I try to install them I hit the following problems:

    1) if the exising wiring comes into the socket box from the top or the top left or top right holes in the socket box, then the light wont fit.

    2) if the socket box has floating lugs then these obstruct the light going into the metal box.
For the above reasons sadly the lights are of no use to me.

I bought these from eBay from a chinese seller.

Is it me doing something wrong? installing them incorrectly or a problem with the light?

    Many thanks

I wouldn't put anything electrical bought from China in my garden/house/shed. I wouldn't think for a minute it's likely to comply with any kind of BS standard.

Well I do agree with you - I was apprehensive for the reasons given.

That said I have seen electrical items on sale in UK wholesalers, and the same models available from chinese sellers on eBay

I think you need to post a photo of these "step lights" as I cannot imagine what they might be.
