Stomach Ulcer

I looked it up, the short term effects seem negligible, compared to not taking it that is, long term there are a few concerns, any idea what is regarded 'long term'?

Over 6 months according to my gastro chap, I have to rotate meds for that reason, though i was taking ranitidine for over 10 years, no problems except for the loss of leg hair and bigger man boobs, huge amount of nose hair and pimples on my bottom, no ulcers though !

Yep, @koolpc sounds like you need to join the queue, had camera down throat 3 years ago and opted for the spray sedation to the throat....no problem at all the whole procedure took 15 minutes, found 2 ulcers probably caused from the aspirin that I've been taking since having had a stroke 9 years ago. All sorted now by taking LANSOPRAZOLE 60mg twice a day for 8 weeks reduced now to 30mg once each day. You will be fine, just let them do their job and look forward to the Filipino nurse holding your hand during the procedure. :);)

Poster #19,
Short term or long term, alcohol is bad for the body - it often causes ulcers, and makes constant users write rubbish.

Had endoscopy 30 years ago as stated. No spray no sedation. Never again!! Give me everything this time!

Same for me, the nurses did that reassuring thing where they say it's all going to be fine, it wasn't, they lied, and that was with the throat spray, sedative for me next time.
