I'm in the process of removing many years of paint from around my windows ready for redecoration. There is some beautiful stonework but I was wondering if someone could identify this coating as I am trying to work out whether to remove and go back to stone or what kind of primer I would need for masonry paint to stick to it if I keep it? If remove, what would get rid of it as I have had little luck with paint stripper IMG_0416.JPG IMG_0417.JPG IMG_0418.JPG

One of the peal away paint strippers may work but check the data sheet as may effect stone.

Coverstain or Alkali Primer to prime if painting but masonry needs to breath and it looks good natural imo. Sealing in moisture is not good
