Random question here... Does the stopcock control water pressure in the pipes? Say I turn off the water to fix a pipe and I turn the water back on but open it more than before will it potentially damage the pipework?
So flow would increase but the pressure on the pipes isn't changed by how open the stopcock is when no water is running?
Thanks for the info. I have also noticed the stopcock has a "eres pn20" attached, do you know what this is? It shows a pressure gauge on it.
Poor pic ,but looks like the stopcock is below ,and to the left. The bit with the gauge is a pressure regulator ( pressure reducing valve).
