Stud Wall Advice - Recessed Shower Tray

I am doing a DIY renovation of our bathroom and have come across an issue that has me stumped. Despite searching around on forums and YouTube videos, I can't really find an answer to my issue. I am thinking it is a case of not knowing the correct techniques or methods to be searching for, so I am hoping that asking this forum will reveal an obvious solution that I have missed! Like I said, I am doing this project myself and learning every day, so apologies if some of my terminology isn't correct!

So the bathroom I am working on previously had a shower tray built into a recess. The shower tray measured 1220mm wide, and the studs in the walls either side of the recess were tight against the width of the tray. The walls were then boarded over the lip of the tray and then tiled over that.

The problem I have is that the new shower tray is only 1200mm, so the issue is the gaps that would be between the studs and the edges of the new, narrower tray. Annoyingly, the gap isn't big enough to fit my 12mm Hardie backer board in, so that isn't really an option.

One option I liked the idea of is building out the stud walls, especially as this would allow me to guarantee that the stud work was plumb and level along the entire length of the wall (previously the wall was only tiled around the shower area, but I am tiling full length of wall, floor to ceiling). However, on both of stud the walls left and right of the shower, there are doors (it's a Jack and Jill bathroom) and building out the wall by 10mm each side would leave the Hardie backer boards sticking out and not level with the door frame.

I am thinking the best/correct thing to do would be to install a new door frame that would be wide enough to accommodate the built out wall and the tiles that would be put on, then I can then fit the door architrave over the tile for a nice finish. However this would add quite a bit of cost and time and I am thinking I might be missing an alternative solution.

I have included a pic of the bathroom below, so hopefully that gives a better idea of the layout.

Any ideas? Thanks in advance :)
