I need a stud wall built between the main living area and utility room. The stud wall needs to be 69mm thick as this means there will be enough space for a washing machine and dryer next to each other.

    So I have three questions.

1, Does building regs allow stud walls be thin as 69mm thick timber. (plus 12.5mm plasterboard
2, What size door lining will I need if the wall has 12.5m plasterboard on both sides.
3, Will this be quiet enough if packed with rockwool acoustic.

    Thanks

Use 63mm x 38mm cls for the structure, building regs no problems with this.
12.5mm both sides added on to 63 is 88mm, as KIAB above says buy a 94mm finished size door lining set, will allow for a 3mm plaster skim both sides.

Can buy rockwool slab insulation, better soundproofing/denser than the rolls, and as above, use blue sound resistant plasterboard to achieve as much soundproofing as you can.

Spot on mate. Thanks for that. I'll give sound bloc a go too.

    Cheers.

Thanks people. First time I've used this forum. Wish I'd used it much earlier.
