Heya, I am rennovating my bathroom and decided to rip everything out as it was a bit of a disaster before... I need to rebuild the stud walls for the shower. In the attached photo, the shower cubical comes a bit further out than the brick wall on the left (yellow lines) My question is: is it typical to place studs ontop of joists, and fit the floor around that; or fit floor first and studs on top of that? Particulary keen to know as I'm not doing the plumbing myself, and all the pipe work needs redoing. If the answer to the question above is floor first, then presumably I would need to get my plumber in to do the underfloor bits, then floor down, then build studs, then get the plumber back in to fit the pipes going through the stud walls? (the new shower valves will be concealed behind the wall on the left) Thanks in advance!
Surely the STUD work should be first, with te floor plate on te joists. so the plumbing can be fitted in the wall ...
Sorry - should have been clearer about the first fix. I would take advantage of the chance to install any any pipework and electrics that can be placed before the floor goes down and before the studwork is built.
