I’m in the process of doing ground work for laying some artificial grass. I was wondering if anyone could off some as ice of how much a 50mm layer of MOT and a 25mm layer of Grano dust would compact down to?

50 mm is not really enough thickness as type 1 can be up to 40mm stone size and 3x size is optimum layer.

Allowance for compaction is trial and error as it depends how you spread it.

Look at crushed hardcore rather than "proper" type 1 and I'm not sure of the value of the 25 of grano dust which isn't going to compact

Thanks. I read 50mm depth is adequate for low traffic areas. Would crushed hardcore give the same stability or would I be better going for 75mm depth on the MOT?

I'd go 75 of crush minimum if it was mine.
