Hi, I am planning surface water drainage for my full planning application. I 've calculated I need a soak away of 1.5m 3 (cubed) which is 12 plastic soak away boxes like Polystorm or similar.
Our hosts seem not to sell these?! I do question whether 400 quid spent on basically a heap of plastic milk bottle crates is a blooming rip off as I' ll never see them and for years a heap of brick rubble was suffice!! Is there a cheaper way but please no burying a caravan type witticisms!!?

A lot of peeps now look at rainwater harvesting instead, at least your making use of the water for washing car, etc.

That's good lateral thinking as could be used for toilet flushing too if filtered . I'll look into rainwater harvesting.

Usually there a filter on the inlet, so the tank only has clean water, filter needs cleaning 2-4 times a year.
Prefer system is the ' indirect system' you have a header tank, which is used to fill toilet, washine machine, which when it gets low, the pump kicks in & refills it from the main tank, the system has automatic mains top up, if the main storage tank is empty.

If your on a water meter, using rain water for toilets, washing machine, washing car, can save you a few pennys.
