When using 3 core swa is the black or the grey used as the cpc? or does it matter as long as you identify it as the cpc? TIA
I've read this time & time again in the last few weeks, It is apparent that Black should no longer be associated neutral. So grey is your answer. Hope this helps

AS EARTH OR NEUTRAL? Have used grey as earth, Circuit not live yet and easy to swop if I've got the colours the wrong way around.
It is apparent that Black should no longer be associated neutral. That will be very difficult to enforce! considering the old black neutral will still be around for another 50 years or so

It is now a phase colour.
No, have found from a previous posts that grey should be neutral, therefore monday I will swap them. Its friday night and i'm off for a pint and a perv at the barmaids ****. Goodnight.

Yes I know that! but some people tend to think that in time people will forget that black was neutral once. But that will never happen for the reasons stated. Back to the original question. Yes it is seen as good practise to have the grey as neutral and black as earth. But it doesn't really matter provided that the cables are correctly marked.
Yes it does matter. Grey is neutral. Black is cpc. Both should also be clearly identified (sleeved). Very bad practise to use black as neutral.

How many times do we have to do this! Think BBC Then think BBG (Brown Black Grey) Single Phase 3 Core SWA Cable Colours Brown=Red=L1 Black=Yellow&Green=CPC Grey=Blue=Neutral Three Phase 4 Core SWA Cable Colours Brown=Red=L1 Black=Yellow=L2 Grey=Blue=L3 Blue=Black=Neutral
