Hi I am replacing the radiator but have to use extendable radiator tales because it’s an old size radiator that is being replaced and they no longer manufacture that size. The extendable radiator tails bought from Screwfix have a parallel thread but the tails on the old radiator had a tapered thread. I am confused as to why the thread is not tapered and assume that I just have to put a lot of PTF tape on to make sure it doesn’t leak. Right? If anyone can throw any light on the subject I’ll be interesting to hear. Thanks Alan
Don't use expanding tails, they're cr*p and will leak. Use solid extensions from here, fitted with liquid PTFE: https://www.toolstation.com/central...nsion+Valve&redirect=radiator valve extension https://www.screwfix.com/p/flomasta-ptfe-liquid-50g/5321j#_=p If the exact length of tail you need isn't available, you can make up the right length with two or more of them joined together.
