Next Saturdays Eurovision Song Contest (of course) :)!

Lets hope that we can keep the kings coronation good UK spirit going and actually win the contest after our 2nd placing of last year.

It sounds a little light weight to my ears, however do give it a listen and please post up your own personal rating and how well you think it may perform in this years contest.

    Here is a youtube link.

Here is a link Eurovision 2023: Songs & Videos (eurovisionworld.com) so that we can have a listen to the other songs and do post up your favourites.

Over the last few years the favourite song as always won the contest and this years bookies favourite is Sweeden so if you fancy a flutter?

I'm quite liking Germanys heavy metal entry which could go well.

On the basis that geopolitical scenario (for those countries participating) has not significantly changed since last year, the winner is ………………?

There seems to be an increasing amount of * on Tv.... these day I often find the best selection is Off.

Long time since I saw that spanner.
It was a gods send behind bathes and pillar wash basins
Don't know what happened to mine.
    Or my RAF beret .

In it's day very much one of the main "tricks of the trade".

Started off in the early 1960s so the ESC is no fly by night - it's got quite an heritage behind it!

It could happen again I suppose but if it did it would pose the question of who would host next year?
No, I think things must move on (sad as the Ukraine situation still is) ,however, I think that they will again pick up a lot of war votes.
Will you be you tuning in quasar9?

Very Likely, unless I am out that evening. I used to like the time when “hosts” for various countries would make silly small talk and then read out the results. The excitement of some poor country having null points, suddenly getting a few scraps of a point lifting them from oblivion while one or more never got above zero! What gets me these days is with all the technology, it should be instantaneous but is unnecessarily extended in the hope of generating excitement but for me it signals sleep !

To be honest, my song was better but I stepped aside as I was going to be away for the date.

The countries voting at the end is the most exciting part of the contest and it would be a big mistake to take it out just because we can.
Perhaps only the final participating countries should be allowed to vote though?
We now have the cliff hanger ending of the "peoples vote" which can suddenly change all that's gone before it.

I think they have a half way house now where bulk of the lower scores being automated and only the top two scores (10 and 12 points) being read out. But are we not in the era of instant everything ? Results, gratification, entertainment etc etc :D

It used to annoy me when the result was settled before we got to them, yet the commentators played it as if these last results mattered
