Good evening to you JP ,I wonder why the dno asked
you to put in an earth pit?

    Ok then JP
A main house with pme supply , you decide to build a
small granny flat say 30 meters away , the loading
was so little you decided to supply the granny flat
from the main house. Would you be happy running a 4
core swa to the flat , live, neutral and earth from
main house pme supply to flat,
If not happy then why ?

Hello LD..at the present juncture and with ref to the granny flat and also having never exported PME then personaly would not do that unless I was 100% sure on the technical aspects of the matter..am not so sure wether I am that interested in the PME Exportation with all the variables to warrant studying up on it..maybe I will and then give a definate answer on the matter.

DNO Earth Pit?..its another tie down for the DNO..the more the merrier..i'm all for that.

As I pointed out way back..the local DNO should be consulted on the Exportation of PME in any case.

The chap who said you cannot export it was a tutor on a course I did..the chap is responsible for some amendments to the Sixteenth Edition..however..

If I meet up with the DNO in the course of my travels.. will have a word about it and report. (EDF my area)

Anyway have a good day LD..:)

To anybody who is putting in earth spikes to supplement a PME, why are you wasting your time and clients money doing something completely unnessecary ?

I hate the phrase "belt and braces", the last bloke who used to say that which i knew always did more than he had to because he wasn't sure what he was doing half the time.

You had better ask the JIB company who graded me or NAPIT who assessed me for part p, i have forgotten.

The supply neutral is going to be fine and dandy in 99.9999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999% of homes so why worry about it.

Just get on with the job. Its a possible problem for any part of a PME install, outbuildings make no real difference at all. All your doing is extendeding the equipotential zone.

In homes is not the problem of the 'exporter'...

outbuildings make no real difference at all.

Ooooooooooooooh .. does their use not have some bearing on it ?

All your doing is extendeding the equipotential zone.

The word that sums it up is 'your'

Don't forget the requirements of the supplier.. that may be more important than what we think is ok.

    No.

The supplier puts in the supply, once that is installed they forget about it until there is a problem with it. You know that as well as i do.

We were talking about exporting, and the use of the building that was being exported to.

The use of the building ?

Are there buildings that need a special kind of coloured electricity ?

Houses need blue electricity and garages need pink electricty ?

If the only types of buildings were houses and garages then my life would be much simpler... but if thats the only type of work that you deal with (towny dude) then you may have a point.

But then again.... may be not

As long the Wine industry continues to 'export' it's fine wines from across the world, to the UK..

    That's more important

    ;)

Sorry DandMElectrical .. there comes a point where repeating the same thing becomes pointless, I have made my views quite clear over the last few pages.
